It was a gloomy day. I started painting with strong strokes, layer over layers of paint. I realized that the canvas had taken a direction of its own. The bright yellows and soft oranges in the surrounding black background started to speak to me. The colors were powerful and the strokes were crucial to this dramatic representation that brought back a memory of a long time ago; a memory of a sunset. The rest was easy. I just let the subtle figure emerge.
